Board of Directors

The Santa Ynez Valley Humane Society in partnership with Dog Adoption & Welfare Group is governed by a group of dedicated volunteers from the community. Each board member brings to the table a unique set of knowledge, talent, and foresight. Together, the Board of Directors have a diverse set of skills necessary to carry out the mission of the SYV Humane/D.A.W.G.

Function of the Board:
• Follow the mission, vision and values of SYVHS/DAWG, review annually to ensure the mission is being followed
• Engage in review and concerns regarding the financial overview of SYVHS/DAWG
• Long term fundraising and resource development
• Approving and monitoring SYVHS/DAWG programs and services
• Enhance SYVHS/DAWG public image

Individual Board Member Responsibilities:
• Promote the SYVHS/DAWG’s mission, policies and needs
• Be a member of SYVHS/DAWG
• Attend monthly board meetings
• Review monthly financial statements
• Follow the bylaws, policies, and board decisions
• Maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of SYVHS/DAWG
• Serve on at least one SYVHS/DAWG committee
• Attend a minimum of 2 events a year, not including Annual Spayghetti Dinner
• Assist in collecting in-kind or monetary donations
• Serve as an advocate for SYVHS/DAWG and identify and secure financial resources and partnerships necessary for SYVHS/DAWG to advance its mission
